Herbalife Scheme
I am an avid fan of watching documentaries and recently came across a documentary called "Betting on Zero". This documentary talks about the company Herbalife and how a hedge fund icon Bill Ackman is on a mission to expose the company for being a pyramid scheme in hopes of bankrupting it and cashing in on their fall.
What really made this compelling for me was that the main target of Herbalife's scheme was the latino community. In fact, my mother buys Herbalife products fortunatly she's not in the pyramid scheme she buys it for her own use. Seeing these mexicans, most of them migrants who came here for a chance at the american dream sucked into the false promises of wealth that Herbalife promised. This made me really upset because it's basically taking advantage of people who don't know any better.
The documentary also followed the latino community as they filed a class action lawsuit against the company only to lose. The documentary doesnt end happily, but it gives room for hope as Ackman is still on the loose trying to bring the company down and exposing their faulty practices to the population.
